Surrender of Atlanta, September 2, 1864

Gen. Hood with Stewarts A.C. and the Georgia Militia, withdrew from Atlanta September1, 1864. At this point Mayor M. Calhoun, with a committee, tendered the surrender of the city to Col. John Coburn, asking protection for citizens and property.
